In: Analyses of social issues and public policy, Band 3, Heft 1, S. 161-169
ISSN: 1530-2415
Two runs of a futuristic simulation involving introductory psychology students were held on successive nights. On one night, "Earth" was populated entirely by right‐wing authoritarian followers; on the second night, a small number of dominating authoritarians were included among a second group of authoritarian followers. With a few notable exceptions (e.g., nuclear war did not break out), the future evolved as anticipated on the two evenings. In general, authoritarians produced dismal futures, beset by unemployment, famine, and disease.

Nacionalismo y autoritarismo de derechas entre legisladores americanos

Explores the relation between right-wing authoritarianism & nationalism among US state lawmakers, arguing that the level of right-wing authoritarianism is positively correlated with ethnocentric nationalistic perceptions. Survey data collected in 1990 from 120 congressional representatives of 5 states (FL, IA, OR, TX, & WI) elicited opinions on both a US action (eg, a military intervention in a neighboring country) & the same action by the USSR. Results indicate statistically significant differences in the assessment of US vs Soviet actions; the more authoritarian the respondent, the greater his/her nationalist orientation. 1 Table, 16 References.
